THE DEATH OF POP BREATHING

London-based shoegaze enthusiasts The Death of Pop combine lush synthesizers with jangling guitars on their newest single 'Breathing'. Sounding a lot like a British version of Chilean psych experts The Holydrug Couple, 'Breathing' floats along gently as chorussy guitars wash like waves over the slow-grooving bass line and simple-yet-effective drums. The addition of synthesizers and some clever production leads The Death of Pop into a more psychedelic realm than we've come to expect from them so far. However, the shoegaze influence becomes more prevalent as the song progresses bringing some serious whammy bar action before breaking into a Kevin Shields-inspired wall of noise. The Death of Pop headline the Waiting Room in Stoke Newington on the 5th of August. -HLMX
